Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting Login & Passkeys Both
Step-by-step diagnostic procedures for resolving authentication and sign-in issues.
Passkey & WebAuthn Errors
- "Passkey not recognized" / Cancelled Prompt: Ensure your browser has permission to access biometric hardware (Windows Hello, Touch ID, or Android Biometrics). If using a hardware security key (YubiKey), verify it is plugged in before initiating login.
- Origin / Domain Mismatch: Passkeys are cryptographically bound to specific domain origins. If you registered a passkey on
app.taptidy.com, it cannot authenticate requests onlocalhostor a self-hosted custom domain. Re-register the passkey for your active domain in Developer settings.
Magic Links & Email OTP Codes
- Missing Emails: Check your spam/junk folder for messages from
auth@my.taptidy.app. - "Token Expired": Magic link tokens and 6-digit OTP codes expire after 15 minutes. Request a fresh code from the sign-in screen.
- Link Opens in Wrong Browser: If clicking a magic link on mobile opens an in-app browser instead of your primary session, copy the link URL and paste it directly into your default browser where TapTidy is active.
Child PIN Availability and Lockouts
TapTidy Cloud does not host child accounts, so its login page does not offer PIN sign-in. On your own community server, enable family mode and accept the current parent notice before child sign-in. If the server cannot confirm support, PIN entry stays hidden; retry the availability check. See family setup. Older servers must be upgraded to advertise PIN availability.
- 15-Minute Cooldown: Entering an incorrect PIN 5 consecutive times triggers an automatic 15-minute brute-force lockout.
- Owner PIN Reset: Household owners and co-owners can reset a child's PIN immediately in Household Settings → Member Details → Reset PIN without waiting for the cooldown to expire.
